Webcam

The webcam is a camera attached to a computer trough a USB port and sends images in real time. These images can be accessed using World Wide Web, instant messaging, a video conference application, chat platforms, etc. Webcams include a digital camera that loads images on a web server.

History

A webcam was used for the first time in 1991 when it was directed to the "Trojan room" cafe trough the computers department of Cambridge University. The oldest camera that is still working is the FogCam in San Francisco State University. This camera is working without being stopped since 1994.
