In a graphical user interface on a computer monitor a toolbar is a GUI widget with buttons, icons, menus or other input or output elements. Toolbars are seen in office suites, graphics editors and web browsers. (Source: Wikipedia)
They include functions as:
- Search;
- Home button;
- Bookmarks (for browser toolbar);
- Edit pictograms (for text editors);
- Formatting pictograms (for text editors)
There are specific functions for each toolbar according to the software, its type and manufacturer.
