Save the Children Romania is a public NGO, non-profit that for 18 years promotes children rights, in agreement with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Since September 2008 Save the Children Romania is the national coordinator of Sigur.info project within Sigur.info Consortium next to Positive Media and Focus.
Save the Children Romania is a member of International Alliance Save the Children, the biggest independent organization in the world that promotes children rights, with about 27 members and programs in over 100 countries. Save the Children Romania is involved in several education projects, social protection and advocacy for poor children, children victims of violence, of work exploiting, street children, refugee children, children from disadvantaged communities, children with disabilities, etc. Organization works with children and their families to improve their life and to create future plans. Yearly over 30000 children and 1000 volunteers are involved in its programs.
In the era of online and mobile technologies, Save the Children Romania tries to support all the children into creating a responsible, safe attitude regarding internet and computer use. They try to help children to avoid internet related risks and to overcome the abusive situations they may be the subject of. Games, music, movies, communicating with friends or school colleagues, homework assisted by computer and internet are ideal opportunities for individual and group development but they may have unwanted effects too.
