Romania won European contest "Think Privacy"

Romanian teens won for the second time in a row the European contest "Think privacy" organized on Data Protection Day on January 28. Projects "Are you in control" and "No escape" took the first and second place, the European jury considering that these two projects capture the best contest's theme.

The winning team is from Iasi from the school group Nicolina and the team from second place is from Botosani, National College "AT Laurian". Winners will be present at the press conference on Safer Internet Day on February 9, 2010 Radisson Hotel.

The contest aimed to make people aware regarding necessity to protect data and private life in the virtual environment. Winners were designated by an European jury including specialists in education and data protection, one member of European Parliament, one teens' representative and one IT industry's representative. Teams' representatives participated with Vivianne Reding the European Commissioner for Informational Society and Media to the presentation ceremony and "Data Protection Day" event at the European Parliament in Brussels.

The earlier edition (one year before) of this event was also won by Romania with the movie "ID" realized with students from "Mihail Sadoveanu" high school from Pascani.

Winners representatives spent three days in Brussels where they participated to a workshop about video production, visited Microsoft center in Brussels and received prizes (Xbox consoles and money to acquire equipments for their schools).
