In digital pictures processing, a pixel (or picture element) is an unique point in a raster image. The pixel is the smallest element addressed by screen, the smallest image unit that can be controlled. Each pixel has its own address according to its coordinates. Pixels are arranged in a grid with two dimensions and are often represented by points or squares. Each pixel is a sample of the original image and each pixel's intensity is variable.
