Parallel ATA

Parallel ATA or PATA is a standard interface used to connect storing devices like HDDs, optical units and floppy units. The actual standard is the result of a long history of technical development. ATA / ATAPI is an evolution of AT Attachment Interface that evolved in different stages from the original IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) interface of Western Digital.
Parallel ATA and ATA are the same thing.
