OpenGL (Open Graphics Library) is a specific standard defining a bridge language or a bridge platform an API for writing applications that produce 2D and 3D images. The interface is composed from over 250 function calls being used to draw dimensional complex scenes.
OpenGL was developed by Silicon Graphics Inc. in 1992 and is widely used in CAD, virtual reality, scientific views and flight simulators. Also there runs video games competing with Direct 3D on Microsoft Windows platforms. OpenGL is led by a technological non-profit consortium called Khronos Group.
