Netscape Communications also known as Netscape Communications Corporation, shortened Netscape, is a company of computer services in USA well known for its web browsers.

The Netscape browser was dominating until the first war of the browsers when it lost in favor of Internet Explorer. Until the end of 2006 the market share of Netscape browsers dropped from over 90% in 1990 to less than 1%.

Netscape is the inventor of the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol to make online communications safe. The protocol is still widely used.
