Monitoring computer and internet access is the act of surveying computer's activity and data stored on Hard Disk or data transferred via internet.

Monitoring computer access and internet is realized using special software. With their help, by doing the correct settings it's possible to limit the computer or/and internet access time, by establishing slots of access. Also it's possible to limit access to certain software installed on the computer or there may be realized settings of surveillance and registering used software (as an example chat applications, file sharing applications, etc.).

Monitoring internet traffic is very important because by knowing all its read and written it's possible to identify terrorists and criminals thus protecting the society from them.

Network's supervisors

'Sniffers are software to monitor data traffic in a network. Computers communicate trough internet by sending messages (e-mails, images, videos, web pages, files, etc.) in small pieces called packages which are directed trough the network until destination where they are reassembled. Sniffers software intercept these packages to examine their content using other software. A Sniffer is a picker of information but it doesn't analyze them, other software do.

Usually monitoring software are incorporated in the parental control software.
