Ministry of Communications and Informational Society (MCSI) is the public institution in charge of regulating communications in Romania, and information services (e-government, e-learning, e-commerce, etc.).

Within Sigur.info project MCSI is one of the main partners actively involved in all actions realized by Sigur.info Consortium and it's also one of the Advisory Board members.

Mission

MCSI's mission is to create sustainable premises for Romania's crossing to Informational Society. This crossing represented one of the main objectives for Romanian government in 2004-2008 period and one of the conditions to adhere to European Union

The "Informational Society" term refers to economy and society where access, acquiring, storing, transmission, spreading and using knowledge and information plays a decisive role. This society implies changes on all levels like: administration, education, business, culture and working methods. At the base of this transformation is internet influencing living, business environment, working methods, study methods, inter-human communication and methods to spend free time.

Communication infrastructure and software applications represent important factors for crossing to Informational Society.
