MP3
From Saferpedia
This term represents MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 also known as MP3. It's a patented format of audio encoding in digital format. An MP3 is almost ten times smaller than the original audio file but the sound has almost the same quality as on the CD.
Due to its small dimensions and the capacity of registering the audio details, the MP3 files became the most popular way to store audio files on computers and on portable devices.
