LANLocal Area Network is a local computer network with a smaller geographic area to cover, like the inside of a house, bureaus or a small group of buildings. LAN's main characteristics are high transfer speed, small geographic area to cover and the lack of need to rent phone lines.

ARCNET, Token Ring and many technologies were used in the past but Internet cable twisted pair wire and wireless networks are the most used technologies nowadays.
