In computers, the kernel is the main component of the most operating systems. It represents a bridge between applications and data to process at a hardware level.
Kernel's responsibilities include managing system's resources (communication between hardware and software). Usually, as a base component of an OS, a kernel (core) can ensure the lowest level of abstracting the resource layer.
