The IEEE 1394 interface is a standard serial interface used for high speed communications and data transfer in real time. It is frequently used in [[Personal computer {PC) | PCs]], audio and video digital devices, automobiles and aeronautics. The IEEE 1394 interface is also known under the name of FireWire (Apple), i.LINK (Sony) and as Lynx (Texas Instruments).
The IEEE 1394 interface replaced the parallel interface SCSI in many applications due to low implementation costs and simplicity.
