ICSEDB
From Saferpedia
International Child Sexual Exploitation Image Database - ICSEDB is functional since March 9 2009 as a result of the database ICAID (Interpol Child Abuse Image Database) that works since 2001. It was developed with funds provided by a number of states members of INTERPOL following feasibility studies and implementation undertaken ȋntre 2001 and 2005.
The final purpose of the project is to prevent and trace of sexual abuse crimes against children by identifying the victims and their aggressors. The system may be accessed directly and safely by accredited investigators, regardless of their geographical location. Having direct and simultaneous access to database from several units dedicated to informational criminality from all over the world (187 member states), will increase the number of available images to analyze. This has as a result more identified victims, a reduction of duplicate investigations and a bigger repartition at world level of information.
Each connection to the system will require individual specialized units to be inspected and approved. Another objective of this project will be to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the ICSEDB by improving the software and system development features will be implemented based on recommendations derived from users workshops.
Due to the global distribution of the image it is essential that this project to be included in a wider participation as possible. Images of children on a continent or a country are normally gathered together on another country or continent. For these reasons, ȋn addition to EU Member States, countries in America, Africa, Asia, and Australia will also be included ȋn project
