Hotline (phone assistance line) for a safer internet.

Hotline Sigur.info(Romanian Hotline) is the reporting component developed by Focus - Romanian Center for Missing and Sexually Exploited Children within Sigur.info project, financed by European Commission and implemented by Sigur.info Consortium.

Safernet.ro Hotline is a civil point of contact that receives and manages complaints regarding children abuse on the internet.

Purpose

Hotline is focused on aspects like child pornography, pornography accessible to children, incitement to discrimination, sending spam, etc.

Hotline's purpose is:

  • to offer a point of contact for reporting illegal materials and activities that are dangerous to children, present on internet;
  • to collect, register and direct to authorized institutions complaints regarding possible children involvement in obscene or pornographic acts;
  • to inform internet users over Hotline purpose and ways to contact it;
  • to solve fast received complaints according to work methodology, developed in cooperation with the authorities;
  • to actively participate in meetings of national and European networks (INHOPE) and contribute to discussions so Hotline activity to be permanently improved;
  • to cooperate with other relevant factors (example: Internet associations, Internet Providers, legal authorities, media) in the country and Europe.
