Games Rating is a system of video games classification into groups considered suitable for certain users categories. Users are classified after the following criteria:

  • age;
  • type of content.

Rating's purpose

Rating's purpose is to protect children access from certain age categories to games that contain violence, inadequate terms and language, materials considered to be inadequate for children. There are used several rating systems. The institutions that deal with this aspect may be : industrial organizations from the video / movies / games area, independent non-profit organizations, governmental organizations. In Europe it's being used the PEGI system (Pan European Games Information). This system is developed by Interactive Software Federation of Europe (ISFE) since 2003.

Rating is presented on the game in the following ways:

  • label for game's package;
  • screen while the game is launching;
  • specifications in the annex of the game.
