File Transfer Protocol

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a standard network protocol used to manipulate and exchange trough a TCP / IP network like the Internet. FTP is built on a Client-Server Architecture and use distinct controls and data connections between client and server application. Initially applications were some standardized tools for interactive command lines. Later have been developed FTP application with graphical interface able to run on OS used nowadays. The file transfer protocol is used as authentication base also (name and password) or with anonymous access. The trivial file transfer protocol is a simpler and simplified version of FTP.
