Faculty of Sociology and Social Work is part of Bucuresti University, was founded 18 years ago and is currently the faculty with the highest number of students within Bucuresti University.

The Faculty of Sociology and Social Work has 5 research centers where teachers, MA students and Ph.D. students, Center for European Studies on Employment and Social Policies, Research Center of Social Structures and Processes, Geopolitics and Visual Anthropology Center, Elderly Center, Center for Media Studies and New Communication Technologies.

Main development directions proposed by the faculty are:

  1. Introducing in study domains some specializations to offer students a better guiding to labor market's requests;
  2. Rethinking and reorientation the structure of education system, due the change of education system structure from 4 years for license, 1,5 years for masters and 4 years for Ph.D. to a structure of 3 years for license, 2 years for masters and 3 years for Ph.D.;
  3. Encourage students to obtain scholarships to foreign universities;
  4. Diversifying postgraduate education forms;
  5. Introducing a flexible education system in foreign international languages;
  6. Developing contacts on line of education and development with universities in the country and abroad;
  7. Promoting sociological education to faculties with other profiles.

Within Sigur.info project, the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work is involved in social research activities realized by Sigur.info Consortium.
