Cursor (computers)

The cursor is a pointer used to show the position of a display device on a monitor. The inferior part of a mouse includes a device which detects its relative movement on the surface it's sitting on. The 2D movement is transformed in 2D movement of the cursor on the screen.
In a text document the cursor is a vertical line indicating the position of the next character.
