Command line interface
From Saferpedia
CLI (Command Line Interface) is a mechanism that operates by printing commands to accomplish certain tasks and to interact with the operating system. This interface running only in text mode is in contrast with the graphical interface (GUI) that uses the mouse. This method of training the computer to perform a particular task is referred to as "inserting command"; the system waits the user to close the command by pressing the "Enter" key.
