Backdoor
From Saferpedia
A backdoor is a secret path (instructions in a software) used to gain access to a software or online service. Backdoor is integrated in software by the developer in order to gain special access to certain functions on the system of the user. In some cases, a worm is designed to take advantage of a backdoor created by an earlier attack. For example, Nimda gained entrance through a backdoor left by Code Red.
Whether installed as an administrative tool or a mean of attack, a backdoor is a security risk, because there are always crackers out there looking for any vulnerability to exploit.
