Audio Video Interleave

Audio Video Interleave, very known after its acronym AVI is a multimedia format inserted by Microsoft in November 1992. AVI formats may contain both video and audio data that can be played simultaneously. Most of AVI files use extensions of file format developed by Matrox OpenDML in February 1996. These files are supported by Microsoft and are unofficially called "AVI 2.0".
